Hey guys! So, I've clearly been neglecting this blog. Whoops.
But it was nice to see people haven't forgotten about me. Vicki even gave me my very first blog award. Thanks, Vicki!!
There it is in all its glory :)
So I guess this is how it goes from here:
1. Thank and link back to the person who gave you this award.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Pass the award along to 15 bloggers who you have recently discovered and who you think are fantastic for whatever reason! (In no particular order...)
4. Contact the bloggers you've picked and let them know about the award.
So, I already thanked Vicki up above.
7 things (gosh, I feel like Miley Cyrus) about myself:
1. I like to make really inappropriate jokes.
2. I can be really fickle.
3. I'm prone to mood swings.
4. I would love to work with Dan Schneider.
5. Sugar Babies and Haribo Gummi Bears are my favorite candies.
6. I talk to myself... a lot.
7. I like to put on my headphones when I'm walking down the street and pretend I'm in a movie montage.
So, that's me and my weird self.
I would pass this on to 15 bloggers, but most of my blogging friends have stopped blogging here. I don't feel like finding them in other places. But I have about 15 blogs I follow, so if you're reading this, you get one (especially you, Don, because you're awesome).
Well, I've basically just been off enjoying summer. Working, reading, writing, visiting friends and family, enjoying the sunshine, etc.
I hope things are well with you all, and thanks again, Vicki.
Seacrest, out!

You Were On My Mind At Least Nine-Tenths of Yesterday
Oh, hey! It's been so long. Too long!
The first couple of weeks I didn't update, it was out of a complete lack of a life to update on. These last two weeks I've just been pretty busy and suuuuper tired.
I still don't have much to update on.
I'm working at a summer camp. I'm there from 9ish-4:30. It goes by quickly, but by the end of the day I'm so drained. After my first day, I came home and couldn't even stay awake. I was asleep by 6:30. I woke up sometime later, ate a quick dinner, then went right back to sleep.
The first week, it was so difficult to come home and stay awake long enough to go to bed at a decent hour. But I'm back to my old self (writing this entry at 2AM ought to prove that, haha). Though, I only work Monday-Thursday, so I'm only up this late because I can sleep in tomorrow. I'm usually in bed by 11 to watch Chelsea Lately, then I doze off.
Nothing much has been going on with me. It's really just been work and sleep; that's all I've got the energy for (and not so much for the former).
This is such a boring post.Whoops. I'm sorry.
Nah, I kid. You love me.
Alright. This was a whole lot of nothing, but I just wanted to show my Blogger peeps some love.
Keep it real, Aces.

I'll Head Straight For the Stars
Hello, kids.
First: The Celtics are in the finals. They won game 1 in the series with Orlando. Super exciting!
Anyhoo, not a whole lot has changed. I'm still in love with Twitter and Tumblr. I still adore Sandra Bullock. I'm still me.
My stage play is coming along. I'm nearly finished :)
I'm halfway through the iCarly spec script I'm writing. Hopefully I'll get it done this year. Last year I was a bit of a slacker. But, I have a better idea this year, so I guess it's good I slacked off a bit :)
I haven't started writing it yet, but I have an outline for the TV pilot competition I want to enter.
I'm in Oregon, and I'll be here for another two weeks. I've been having a great time. Steven's birthday party was UH-MAY-ZING! I wish you could have been there, Zaida (and I'm sure you do, too). Seeing people I haven't seen since last year has been fun as well.
That's basically it.
Oh, but I did want to say thanks to all of the congrats on getting something done for Script Frenzy. The script is still sitting there, but hopefully I'll do something with it later.
And a specific thanks to Don for his comment, it made me smile. Thanks. If you guys get the chance, you should definitely check out his blog. It's great--definitely one of my favorites (and I'm not being paid to say any of this).
I'll try to write again soon (and something more interesting [in theory] to read), but until then keep up with my chatter on Twitter and Tumblr.
Shine on, my Aces.

I'm so amazing... And if I ever get off this couch, I'll be unstoppable!
'Ello mates. What's good with you all? It's been a couple of weeks since I last wrote. I know. You all have missed my ramblings terribly, right? Of course (and if you haven't, let just pretend, mmkay?).
Boy, has something changed my life in a big way. However, to tell you about it would require a lot of writing, so I'll probably just put it in my memoirs--which I plan to pen in the near future--and you can all read it later. I'm mostly kidding. I really just don't feel like typing it all out (but I do plan to write some kind of memoir).
Anyway, stuff from the past couple of weeks:
I didn't make it to 100 pages for my Script Frenzy script. Did anyone actually think I'd do it? Why, thank you, lone man raising a hand in the back of the room, I appreciate your vote of confidence. But who are we kidding? I spend way too much time watching Chelsea Lately and learning Det. Benson's monologues from SVU reruns to actually get anything done. I did get to about 70 pages, so I'd like to think there's a good chance I'll finish the script eventually since I'm over halfway there.
The Celtics are in the second round of the playoffs! I know not many of you are basketball fans, but I'm SUPER excited about it.
Have any of you had a Pepperidge Farm cookie called a TimTam? They're Australian (are you surprised? Great things come from Australia [not that I can name many things beyond their accents and these cookies]) and they're absolutely delicious. I just recently learned that they're not available during the summer. That's as dumb as the Girl Scout Cookie selling season (John Mulaney would agree). You guys should try some before they are taken off the grid like like a suspected terrorist.
In other disappearance news: I positively adore Sandra Bullock. She disappeared like Jimmy Hoffa (too soon?) only to come back with divorce papers and cute little baby named Louis! I couldn't be happier for her; you'd think she was my best friend. And a heap of props to her for adopting a kid from the U.S.
I don't know if I've ever actually proclaimed my love for Twitter, so I want to do that now. I LOVE TWITTER! It's so great. Especially, especially, when you get lucky enough to have short conversations with celebs you follow.
I also love Tumblr. But for different reasons.
In the next few weeks I have quite a bit to look forward to.
Some of those things:
-I'm going to try to write a stage play... again.
-I'm going to write a TV pilot for a competition.
-I'm going to write a spec script for a different competition.
-I'M GOING TO GO TO OREGON!!!!
-I'm going to buy Steven his first legal drink.
Going. Going. Going.
Well, I'm going to go do something else because I'm tired of talking to you losers (only kidding, course).
Next time, Gadget. Next time.

It's the Little Things
It's 3:15AM and here I am starting a post. I couldn't help it. I was compelled to write. I was listening to music at random on iTunes when a Tyrone Wells song came on. Happy As the Sun came on, to be exact.
It was the strangest thing, really.
We all know the power that music has. That power to take us back to a specific moment. Just like a scent can make you feel like you're standing in your grandma's kitchen on Christmas, instead of a bakery on a Tuesday in July.
Songs make you remember things that you might otherwise forget.
I remember, with fondness, having my first dance with a boy at a middle school dance. I danced to My Heart Will Go On with a boy I had a crush on, named Dylan. And much like Celine's heart, the song went on and on; and the awkward dance droned on along with it. If I could go back, I'd tell my 6th grade self to make up an excuse (Would you excuse me? I cut my foot before and my shoe is filling up with blood.) and tell him that I'd cash in a rain check for the next slow song.
I remember the song that the pep band played as we went to halftime during the game when I made 6 3-pointers in the first half. As we ran off the court, to the locker room, the band played Hey! Baby and the crowd sang along. That was the night I earned the nickname Tres. I hear that song and I get butterflies in my stomach as if I'm still 17, wearing blue and gold and calling myself a "Lady Tiger". I can almost hear my coach yelling, "Motion!"
Anyway.
Tonight, as I was saying, Happy As the Sun started playing and I thought about my friend, Kelly (who introduced me to Tyrone Wells' music), and the few times we saw him play at Linfield. After that song started playing, I decided I only wanted to listen to Mr. Wells at the moment, so I typed his name in the search and watched as all songs, but his, disappeared.
The next song, which is the song that made me want to write, was Sea Breeze. The first measures of music began to play and, had I closed my eyes, I could have sworn I was back in my sophomore year at Linfield.
It really is wonderfully stunning how a song can take you back to a place you haven't been in years.
As I listened, there I was back in Larsell 106, lying on my bed with a desk lamp on, staring aimlessly at my shadowed ceiling.
I'd like to say that this song took me back to a brilliant time, but at that moment in room 106, I was unhappy.
The interesting part of it all, is that as the memory flooded back, so did the emotions and my physical reactions to them. I specifically remember feeling like I was carrying weights at all times and was constantly struggling to be happy. It was the beginning of a particularly rough couple of years for me.
I won't go into it. But I could feel all of that.
I just thought it was amazing the way the song did that.
And though it wasn't a brilliant moment in my life during the time I was living it, it was completely impressive how the song made me look back at the moment with the same fondness as my first dance.
I wish I could effectively explain the difference between that moment and this one. The only way I can think to explain it is to say that:
Everything then was so heavy, whereas things now are light and radiant. Then: every little thing felt more like a wrecking ball of discourage. Now: it's the little things, good and bad, that fill me with motivation, excitement and wonder.
For this, I am grateful.
Until next time,

No One Uses the Word 'Strife' Anymore
So, I think I've figured this all out. Though, I'm not sure any one of you has read my last few posts, so this may just be me talking to myself about my blog shuffling as of late (this goes back to the topic of "if there are no comments, it's hard not to assume the post hasn't been read").
Anyway, here are the statuses of my (as of now) three blogs:
An update on that aforementioned static life:
Well, there's not much to report (shocker?), life feels much like a waiting game at the moment--most of the waiting is for my damn phone to ring, or for a few certain somebodies to bless my inbox.
The waiting game isn't the worst situation to be in. I know it won't be like this all the time (I'm determined that it won't be).
Things of Note:

Well, that's pretty much it for now.
Hope all is well with you.

- This blog: Using it for general life updates

Things of Note:
- I recently pre-ordered Chelsea Handler's new book: Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang and I'm super excited about it.
- I'm going to Seattle for a casting call for a new ABC Family series (based on this book).
- I'm going to Portland next-next weekend to celebrate my mom's birthday!
- I'm currently 30 pages into a new screenplay that I'm really enjoying to write.
- I still don't have a job.
- I'm still sleeping on the couch (thanks to, what I now call, The Great Futon Hoax of 2010).
- I'm rocking longer locks:
Well, that's pretty much it for now.
Hope all is well with you.

It's a Secret No One Knows
Hey everyone! Sorry I've been MIA for the majority of the week and haven't been able to comment on your posts, or respond to your comments. I've been busy trying to get a complete draft of a script done that, hopefully, will be filmed by a local filmmaker and entered into the Tacoma Film Festival. I'll write more about that later.
Anyhoo, I wanted to post a link to an article that ties in with my last post.
It's from MSNBC. It's about Blacks in film. They talk mainly about Denzel Washington, Will Smith and Tyler Perry. However, they mention Halle Berry for a sentence or two. Anyway, it was a nice read, so check it out when you have the time.
Shine on, my friends.

Do Me a Favor: Call Me 'Jerk' One More Time
You're a jerk.
I know.
Here's the other video I was talking about. I wanted you guys to know what I deal with, so I had my brother sit down for a brief interview.
Obviously, the other to vlogs and this "interview" were done on the same night. Fun fact: I wasn't even dressed, really. I had been in my PJs shortly before I started filming. I put on a decent shirt and a necklace to give the illusion of being presentable. I had on blue sweats and just kind of lucked out that they didn't show in the video. Well, they did once, but that's the magic of editing.
Anyway, I hope you guys got some kind of kick out of that shit show, and I will talk to y'all later.

If I Could Give You the World On a Silver Platter...
Would it even matter? You'd still be mad at me.
So, to incorporate my new 'I've come to realize...' bit, I've renamed this day: 'Talk About it Tuesday'. Sorry for those of you who enjoyed 'Text & Twitter Tuesday'...it's gone into an early retirement. But, maybe it'll make a comeback a la Michael Jordan (but it'll be a good comeback. Like when he left to be a crappy baseball player, but then came back to the Bulls in a blaze of glory, managing a second 3-peat. Not the mistake-of-a-comeback when he bought, and then played for, the Wizards and his only stand-out 'achievement' was being the first 40-year-old to score 43 points in a NBA game [sorry for the long tangent]).
I'm going to be heading back to Mac-Town on Sunday. I love Jan-Term and I think I'll love it more this time, now that I won't have to worry about what grade I'm going to get. I'm so happy I'm done with doing homework. Fuck (excuse my French [and excuse me for blaming the French]) homework. Anyway, I'm also super excited because I'll be able to see the movies Miguel is screening for the scripts class. And the movies, Bree informed me, are: The Hurt Locker, Up in the Air, Precious and The Lovely Bones. I'm beyond ecstatic! All movies I want to see.
I don't think I ever wrote about my New Year's Eve. It was awesome. I spent it with the kiddies again. I think they had a really good time. I'll have to post some videos later. They're really funny. They're jerking and dancing to Thriller. I love it.
So I started writing this post on Tuesday, it's now Wednesday. I'm still going to post it as if it were a Tuesday. I got temporarily distracted. Meaning: I got a call from my aunt about a birthday party, and now, 8 hours later I'm back (slightly intoxicated) to finish this post. I'm dedicated. Fo sho. Anyway, I'm supposed to be doing this new 'Talk About it Tuesday' (BTW, Tuesday is a hard word to spell under the influence) so:
I've noticed that I have friends who are extremely negative people. I love them a lot, but they constantly put others down, or point out others' shortcomings. I realize that when I'm with them, I fall into it, too. I don't like it. It makes me feel gross and petty afterwards. Tearing others down isn't what I want to be about, not at all. It takes a lot of effort to find reasons to hate on someone. Frankly, if I don't like someone, I don't want to spend time making them the center of my world by talking about them any chance I get, I want to forget them and move on. Spending time hating on someone isn't something I want to do, it's exhausting. I have better things to put my energy into. I'd rather do big things that cause someone else to hate on me; let those fools waste their energy wondering how I did what I did, and then let them sit around hating on the fact that I pulled it off (though, no one should hate on anyone for any reason).
I also don't like the negativity of judging. I mean, we all judge people to a certain degree. But it bugs me that people judge on things that don't even matter. I have an eclectic taste in a lot of different things: music, movies, art, TV shows, extra-curricular activities, etc. But if there's a certain something I don't like, I don't automatically judge someone who does (I mean, unless it's murder or animal sacrifice or something major, you know?). I might give a friend a hard time, but I don't take me seriously. I'm talking about people who constantly judge. The worst part about it is, they want to turn around and say, "Don't judge me." It's so stupid--you can't be exempt from judgment if all you do is judge (pot, meet kettle). Judge someone on things that will really effect a friendship, not whether or not they like Marilyn Manson.
Really, I hope you guys get what I mean. Negativity spreads and spreads. If a group of people is in a good mood and one person comes up and starts to spread negativity and hate, it brings everyone down. Don't fall into the negativity trap. It's a hard one to come out of.
Stop judging others on things that don't matter. But, Jamika, you're probably thinking. How can I like someone who likes things that I don't like--someone that is doing the things they want to do instead of living by my expectations? Simple. Just do it. There would be a lot less negativity if we stopped worrying about others. What everyone needs to do, as Katt Williams said, is get in tune with your star player. Your star player = you. Figure out yourself and stop hating on others. The world would be a much better place without the constant hating and negativity from bitter people. Let me get slangy for a minute: If it ain't puttin you in any danger, why you trippin, girl?
Okay, my rant is over. Hopefully you guys took something from this (ahem) influenced speech. Happy Tuesday (yes, I know it's officially Wednesday, STFU).

I've come to realize negativity is contagious.

In Each Life Some Rain Falls, But You Also Get Some Sun
I've made it a habit lately of not sticking to my habit of themed posts. That could be because I haven't had any obligation to anything (whatsoever) in the past however many days it's been since finals week, and it's kind of nice. It's also probably because I don't even have a clue as to what day it is...really. It's Monday or Tuesday though, right? Am I joking right now? No, sadly, I am not.
I do know, however, that in a couple days (maybe a few days if it's Monday) that we'll be done with the aughts and into a new decade. I've learned, from the wise women in my family, of a cool tradition/superstition of cooking certain foods to ring in the new year.
On New Year's Day there are four (4) (that always cracks me up when the number is written out and then the numerical symbol is right next to in parentheses. I shouldn't laugh though, illiteracy is still a problem, America.) foods that are supposed to help you in the new year.
1. Black eyed peas -- Because they swell when they cook, they symbolize prosperity, good fortune.
2. Greens -- For an obvious reason, symbolize money.
3. Pork -- Because of the way pigs root forward when they are foraging, it symbolizes positive motion.
4. Rice -- Symbolizes life and health.
Basically, have a nice, soul food-filled dinner and you'll be okay.
Around this time, everyone starts making resolutions. I never make resolutions. I've learned that, mostly, resolutions are just for show. Usually, people tell friends and family about their weight loss goal or their cutting-back-on-my-drinking goal or their "being better at keeping in touch with friends" goal, and, by spouting off their goal(s), they feel they look better to others and in turn feel better about their self. Then, January passes, February's shortness swings by and by the time we're well into March, they're feeling shitty because they've done no justice to those resolutions.
Well, I have enough crap to feel bad about without adding on a neglected list of empty promises I made to please others to please myself (did you follow that?). So, that being said, I'm keeping with tradition and will not be making any resolutions this year.
On the other hand, I will be making some changes. This is the first year, in 18 years, that I am to be without the organized routine of school. I have a lot of big hopes and even bigger dreams. There's an ache inside me every single time I write--a good ache. I know what I want to do. I don't know exactly what I have to do to get there, but I have a rough outline.
Now, this might sound cheesy, but I'm going to say it anyway. Every story I've ever finished has had an outline, rough or otherwise. As I wrote, the outlines were filled in, changed, rearranged and always became clearer. I have no doubt the outline to my life (well, the outline to this part of my life) will go through the same process--my life is just a bunch of short stories I'm writing with every choice I make. I'm always unsure in the beginning, but by the end, I've reached a point of satisfaction; I know if I'm not satisfied, it's not the end.
Well, let's be real, that was cheesy. But, you get what I'm saying and you have to respect me, a least a little, for carrying that metaphor all the way through, haha.
All that cheesy stuff aside, I'm not going to write down the changes I'm making. Let it be known, though, that I started making them weeks (actually, months) ago--another reason I don't make resolutions is because it gives the false sense that change can only come with a new year. I'm not telling you guys because I know myself enough to know it won't do me any good to share them. Certain things I tell everyone, because I know if I say it enough, I'll be sure to do it (like my impending fame). Then, there are the things that are better motivators if I keep them inside.
Anyway, I've rambled enough. I hope you all had a jolly Chrismahanukwanzakah, and that you ring in the New Year with someone you enjoy and care about (even if it's just yourself). Also, I hope whatever resolutions or changes you make (or don't make), inwardly and outwardly, are for yourself--that's the real key, I think.
Lastly, I leave you with these two (2) (haha) quotes:
"...I realized that my dreams of becoming a writer wouldn't just come true; I had to do the work. ... I learned that dreams don't work without action; I learned that no one could stop me, but me. I learned that love is stronger than hate."
--Roseanne, from Roseanne
"Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find it was vanity. But the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes to make it possible."
--T.E. Lawrence

There's a Special Kind of Feeling in the Air
It only happens at this time of year
When everyone is filled with love and cheer
'Cause that's what matters
Lately, my world has been filled with nothing but writing. No, I'm not complaining. I'm super happy that I'm finally done with the screenplay for my independent study. It was a tough script to write and I'm not too sure I'm happy with the ending, but eventually I'll come back to it and revise it to my liking. I was up until around 8am finishing it the other night/morning, so I definitely put in work to finish the draft. It'll be nice to get a break from it though. Now I can finally finish up stuff for my portfolio in my fiction class.
Another thing I've been doing is reading a lot of screenplays. Most recently I've read: Precious, It's Complicated and The Blind Side. I'm trying to decide between An Education, Up in the Air, A Single Man and Sin Nombre. I probably won't read A Single Man right away. I've only seen the preview and it didn't really make me want to see it, so I'm in no hurry. It looked like the kind of preview that producers whip together when the movie isn't actually all that great.
The last movie I watched was Shrink. It stars Kevin Spacey as a therapist to the stars whose wife just recently died. He's trying to help his really eccentric patients, while he's barely functioning. The movie has a real Crash feeling to it. The lives of random people intersect in different ways. It's not as heavy as Crash. I enjoyed it, though. I've watched it twice already.
So, just a week until I'm done with Linfield! Crazy how fast this semester has gone. I've applied for a couple of jobs, I hope to hear back from at least one of them soon, we'll see. Fingers crossed.
Other than writing, reading and watching movies. I've been listening to Christmas music!
I guess I don't really have too much to talk about. The main thoughts on my brain last week were:
-It's cold
-I have to pack
-I don't want to pack
-That screenplay
-I hate the cold
-Directing scenes
-Getting a job
-Thank you cards
-Being a stand-up comedian
-Oh, and, it's cold and I hate it
But yeah, that's that.
Oh, except for this commercial. I laugh every time it comes on.
Haha, good stuff.

Wake Up in the Mornin' Feelin' Like P. Diddy
Hey! It certainly has been a while. Sorry I didn't get the chance to write over the past week. Hope everyone had a decent holiday. I just wanted to update since I haven't in a while. I'll try to throw in a letter for Missive Monday towards the end.
Some Thoughts From the Week:
o I'm not one for all of the turkey and stuffing, but my grandma makes some of the best desserts ever! (Hummingbird Cake, Red Velvet Cake, Pound Cake, Sweet Potato Pie, etc.) There are some gifted bakers in my family.
o There is nothing like the holidays with my family.
o I've decided to write a screenplay about my family family on Thanksgiving. The world could use more movies to watch on Thanksgiving...not just Christmas movies.
o Though holidays should be joyful times, terrible, unexplainable and devastating things still happen.
o Holidays always bring a sense of hope, even when it's hard to be hopeful.
o Riding a wave of hope, my family bought lottery tickets this week. The Mega Millions jackpot is up to $57 Million and the Hit 5 jackpot is up to $470,000. My fingers are crossed.
o I've come to realize that there will always be people in your family that you love, but you don't like. Bad people are everywhere and you can't expect your family to be exempt from that. I'm not naive, I've known this for a long time, but no one wants to admit it. People can change, people can redeem themselves, but often they're stuck in their ways and they won't. But you can change your situation by getting out of it.
o Tacoma is a beautiful place. I'm glad I grew up there.
So, I only have 20 days until I'm done with Linfield. Craaaazy. The last time I posted how many days I had left, it was 100 and that seems like it wasn't even that long ago. This semester sure has flown by. I only wish I had a job. But, I have no doubt something wonderful will come my way, something usually does. It just takes some time.
So, I'm still on the hunt for a job...no one is hiring. Well, I could probably find a job at a coffee shop or pizza place, and I know this is the wrong time to be picky, but I don't want to settle for a job I don't want to do. Maybe that's wrong of me, but I gotta do what I gotta do.
Now, I have something to offer you guys:
Alright, have you guys heard of Google Wave? I just got an invite to preview it. With the invite comes 8 more invites. It's really cool, but it's something that's cool when people you know use it too. You can do all kinds of collaborating on projects and stuff, or interactive type emails. It's hard to explain as well as the Google peeps do, but I think it'd be fun to try out with you guys.
That being said: do any of you want an invite so I can have people to play around with on it? You can also go on YouTube and search for it and you can watch videos, made by Google, that'll tell you what it's about.
I have to start packing so I'm not doing it all at one time. I'm the worst at packing, though, so we'll see how this goes.
On a musical note (haha, musical note), here's a song that I grew to love over the last week. It's called 'Super Jerkin'' by Keke Palmer. I love it. She had a contest going, so the beginning of the video is about that. You can just skip to the two minute mark to hear the song.

I'm Not Crazy, I'm Just a Little Unwell
It's been a while since I've written an un-themed post.
I guess I don't really have too much to update on. Nothing much has changed. I've basically just been really bored since Too Much Light ended. I spend most of my time in my room, all brooding and reclusive, haha. S'all good though.
The other night I was at Cabana and this older man, who looked like an English Sheepdog, insisted that I dance with him. He had the worst breath ever. It smelled like beer and cigarettes. And, I'm almost certain, that even if he brushed his teeth, the smell is there to stay. Anyway, he wanted to swing dance. Keep in mind I haven't done any swing dancing since like 2000, when that movie Alley Cats Strike made swing music popular in middle school. And even then I was no good. So, he's leading this swinging (we were dancing to a hip-hop song, btw) and literally flinging me all over the dance floor. There were others dancing, but since he had no regard for them, he was throwing me into them and they all started going to the sidelines. After a minute, we were the only ones on the floor. The song, I felt, lasted waaaaay too long. I thought my shoulder was going to be pulled out of its socket--he was forceful. Needless to say, we probably looked like the biggest asses EVER. Good times.
Last night, Jill and I went to see The Dynamic Duo perform some slam poetry. I've always wanted to do slam, but I've never been too thrilled about my poetry writing. Anyway, it was an awesome show. The two guys, Ken Arkind and Panama Soweto, were really funny, but also smart and clever with their words.
Here's the one they opened with:
This next one Ken performed by himself. It was so awesome. In this video, though, he's performing it with two others and I think it's even better.
Oh, do any of you guys watch the new show Modern Family? It's really hilarious. And Christopher Lloyd is one of the creators, exec. producers and writers. I love Christopher Lloyd! I wonder if he'll ever have a cameo.
Are you guys watching any new shows? In addition to Modern Family, I'm trying to keep up with: Glee, FlashForward and The Middle. I was watching Community for a while, but I wasn't all that impressed with it. Maybe I'll watch the season online later. Then there are the shows that I've been watching for a while: SVU, Lincoln Heights, How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, Lie to Me and 30 Rock.
So much TV, so little time. Mostly, I watch the shows online because a lot of them are on at the same time. I don't think I've ever been this into TV, it's strange, haha.
I guess I'll stop rambling. Hope things are well. :)

When It's Good, Then It's Good, It's So Good...
'Til it goes bad.
'Til you're trying to find the you that you once had.
'Ello mates.
I really should be doing homework, but I decided to take a break (for my sanity's sake). Already this semester I've done more work than I have in the first month of any previous semester of school. It's lame, I don't have time to do much of anything else. That being said, I might be making you guys wait yet another week for a Moral Monday post.
Auditions for 'A Doll's House' are tomorrow. I've been on the fence about auditioning all week. I'd love to audition/be in the show, but I don't know if I can do that (or even something on the tech side of the show), we'll see.
Tonight was the spaghetti dinner for the theatre. We got to go to Ty and Brenda's since the weather was nice. There was a good amount of people there...a lot of freshman it seemed.
Oh, in non-school related business. I'm in the process of applying to an AmeriCorps program. It's with a place called The Underground Cafe. It's a student run coffee shop, art space and teen center. It's in Utica, NY. It's pretty far from here and far from where I ultimately want to be (Cali.), but at this point, I'm down for just about anything that involves creativity. It sounds like a really fun program, there are positions for Development coordinator, Volunteer Capacity Builder and Publicity Coordinator. I'm going to apply for the Publicity Coordinator spot. Reading the required skills section and description, I think I'll be best suited for that one. Anyhoo, that's really the only new thing about my life.
Okay, I need to get back to doing homework. I'm really, very stressed out already. It doesn't have as much to do with homework as it does with other aspects of this semester--but I'm not going to start off on that tangent.
I know, as far as updates go, this kind of sucked...but, what can you do? I hope you all had decent weekends.

You've Got Me Laughing While I Sing, You've Got Me Smiling in My Sleep
I sat down today and went through my schedule.
Check it:
Monday: 4 classes 9-3:30
Tuesday: 2 classes 9-11
Wednesday: 3 classes 9-3:30
Thursday: 2 classes 9-11
Friday: 3 classes 9-12:30
Kind of lame, not gonna lie.
Anyhoo, I've been reading the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows recently. Can't believe I've gone so long without hearing the outcome of the book, but I've managed and I'm glad I don't already know what's going to happen.
Two of my roommates are here now. It's strange, the apartment not being so quiet all the time. It's nice though, I'm not so jumpy when I hear random noises.
Anyhoo, I don't have too much to write about (obviously). Just figured I'd try to get in the habit of writing more regularly.
I've been doing a lot more writing outside of the blog world, though, so at least I'm getting stuff done. I've written some non-fiction pieces and I've been working on writing the iCarly spec script. I'm excited about it. It's coming along. Definitely as slow process, but not as difficult as I thought it might be.
Well, I'll leave you all with this:
Top 5 songs on my iPod from the last month:
5. Party in the USA - Miley Cyrus
4. Love Save the Empty - Erin McCarley
3. HI-808 - Blue Scholars
2. You Belong with Me - Taylor Swift
1. Title Song: Catch Me - Demi Lovato

And I Came With An Accent
I said, 'Howzit?'
(That was for you, Zaida)
Long time no write! How's everyone been?
I've been working with Facilities Services on campus. It's been a pretty decent job--gets boring sometimes, but what job doesn't?
I had to move from Legacy to the HP's this past weekend...it was so frustrating. I hate moving. But, I love being back on campus and closer to everything. And I'm ready for my finaaaaaal semester. HOLLA BALLA! Haha.
So, I'm looking for jobs/internships for right after graduation (since I wouldn't start the writing fellowship until Jan./Feb. 2011 because of submission period). I was looking into doing copy writing. I think it'll be pretty fun and I'm excited to see if I can find some cool places to work at.
I guess I don't have too much to say about what's going on with me these days. I haven't really been doing much besides working and the like. Hope all is well with you guys.

Look to My Right and I See the Hollywood Sign
I've failed at posting / commenting on your posts.
It's been a busy week or so. Promise to do both soon.
I have been reading your posts, though :)

Eyes Up to the Sky, She Sighs, 'I Need Nobody'
True, indeed, Sister, but you still need everybody.
Because we hardly know ourselves if we know nobody else.
And only in our loneliness can home become a hell.
It has definitely been a while. How is everyone?
It's been a long week--not in a bad way. I feel I've gotten quite a bit done--writing, reading, job-hunting, future job-hunting and some other odds and ends. Coolest thing I did this week was watch the International Space Station fly over Oregon. It's crazy to think that that quick-moving light is actually housing people.
Have any of you heard of the show Dead Like Me? I just started watching it. It's only two seasons, and there's a movie as well. I just randomly came across it on hulu.com. It's actually pretty interesting. It's about 18 year-old Georgia, who gets killed in a freak accident. Instead of going to heaven or hell, she is forced to become a grim reaper. You should check out an episode or two if you get the chance.
I haven't been able to use my phone for a little over a week now, so I've been pretty disconnected from people in that way. If anyone has tried to text/call me, I'm not ignoring you :] Facebook, Twitter, e-mail or here are the ways to get in touch with me these days.
So, I've been looking into applying for writing fellowships with different television companies. It's definitely something I really want to do. In order to apply I have to write a spec script. I have to choose a television show (30 or 60 min. show) that is currently in production and write an episode. I have to capture the characters correctly and portray them convincingly in whatever situation I decide to put them into. Any suggestions of shows I should consider?
Well, sorry for being MIA lately.

Too Many Infected, Too Many Lives Diminishing
Remember this song/video?
I remember first hearing this song in 2001 (after 9/11). I was pretty young, you could say, but I thought it was really touching. I'm older now, obviously, and I still find it touching. It's a well done collaboration about serious issues (AIDS, war, poverty). I'm not surprised that, eight years later, the lyrics are still completely relevant. Saddened, yes, but not surprised.
One of my favorite lines is: 'Somebody tell me what's going on. We got human beings using humans for bombs.' I think I like it because of the multiple meanings you can get from it. The whole song is full of great lyrics--just thought I'd pick one to give a shout out to :]
Of course the original song is by Marvin Gaye (watch here), which is also a great song.
