Alrighty, I have a favor to ask of you guys.
I mentioned that I was going to be writing a spec script. I took Bryan's idea of writing an episode of 30 Rock (thanks :]), but I was also looking to do another show because the guidelines mentioned that if they were having troubles choosing they might ask for more writing. That being said, I was thinking of doing an episode of iCarly (to show that I can write for a younger group as well) and possibly Lincoln Heights (ABC Family) to show that I can write something a bit more dramatic and because it's an hour versus a half.
Now, about that favor. I will, for sure, be writing a 30 Rock script and an iCarly script, my question to you guys: Are there any situations that you haven't seen them (characters on either show) in that you'd like to see them in. I have a few ideas, but I'm trying to see what others would be interested in, ya know? Just spout off any random ideas that you might have. I'm excited to get writing soon and hopefully you guys will be willing to give me some critiques :]
I have to say I love the little blogging group we've got going on here. It's a nice way to keep up with you guys.

Do the Ice Cream and Cake!
You cannot tell me that commercial doesn't make you want to dance. I've seen it many times and I can't sit through it without some sort of movement.
Sorry for the last one, it was the best one I could find.
It upsets me that I see these Sonic advertisments and I have no clue where one is in Oregon or Washington :/

Eyes Up to the Sky, She Sighs, 'I Need Nobody'
True, indeed, Sister, but you still need everybody.
Because we hardly know ourselves if we know nobody else.
And only in our loneliness can home become a hell.
It has definitely been a while. How is everyone?
It's been a long week--not in a bad way. I feel I've gotten quite a bit done--writing, reading, job-hunting, future job-hunting and some other odds and ends. Coolest thing I did this week was watch the International Space Station fly over Oregon. It's crazy to think that that quick-moving light is actually housing people.
Have any of you heard of the show Dead Like Me? I just started watching it. It's only two seasons, and there's a movie as well. I just randomly came across it on hulu.com. It's actually pretty interesting. It's about 18 year-old Georgia, who gets killed in a freak accident. Instead of going to heaven or hell, she is forced to become a grim reaper. You should check out an episode or two if you get the chance.
I haven't been able to use my phone for a little over a week now, so I've been pretty disconnected from people in that way. If anyone has tried to text/call me, I'm not ignoring you :] Facebook, Twitter, e-mail or here are the ways to get in touch with me these days.
So, I've been looking into applying for writing fellowships with different television companies. It's definitely something I really want to do. In order to apply I have to write a spec script. I have to choose a television show (30 or 60 min. show) that is currently in production and write an episode. I have to capture the characters correctly and portray them convincingly in whatever situation I decide to put them into. Any suggestions of shows I should consider?
Well, sorry for being MIA lately.

Too Many Infected, Too Many Lives Diminishing
Remember this song/video?
I remember first hearing this song in 2001 (after 9/11). I was pretty young, you could say, but I thought it was really touching. I'm older now, obviously, and I still find it touching. It's a well done collaboration about serious issues (AIDS, war, poverty). I'm not surprised that, eight years later, the lyrics are still completely relevant. Saddened, yes, but not surprised.
One of my favorite lines is: 'Somebody tell me what's going on. We got human beings using humans for bombs.' I think I like it because of the multiple meanings you can get from it. The whole song is full of great lyrics--just thought I'd pick one to give a shout out to :]
Of course the original song is by Marvin Gaye (watch here), which is also a great song.

It's Much Better to Face These Kinds of Things...
...With a sense of poise and rationality.
Lately, I haven't really understood why I'm babysitting these children. They practically sit themselves. Well, I take that back, I know why I'm babysitting during the hours of 7-11, but after that, there is no need for me to be there.
Like today, for example, after K got home from work, I took her to her phys. therapy appt., then T and I went to McDonald's because it reopened today (it looks very classy for a McDo's). After we picked up K from PT, we dropped off boxes at her friend's house, sat there for a while, then went to B's house because it has AC and it's about 90 degrees today. While at B's, K slept while the boys watched a movie and played in the [fenced] backyard. Meanwhile, I sat around doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
Around 4:30, when K woke up, we took T to baseball practice and then she took me home (well, after we went back to her house so we could get T a pair of shorts, more practical than his cargo shorts (WTF? Think, kid), to practice in. Needless to say, that 3-3.5 hours of my day was a complete waste.
Anyhoo, B will be gone for two weeks starting next week and T will be gone for about the same amount of time starting on Wednesday of next week. I'm going to enjoy the time away and I'm hoping to find a different job so I don't have to go back to that one. Wait, is that a really passive way of going about this?
Now that I'm done with the whining...I'm going to go apply for [hopefully] my last student loan for my BA. I guess that makes my return to Linfield official...it's in writing.

I Know That I Shouldn't Let it Get to Me
But it does, so who am I kidding?
A dead end job and a lack of family.
This town really gets to me.
I'm feeling like the worst kind of person as of late.

Like a Wannabe Frat Boy Tryna Get Down
The newest freecreditreport.com commercial. It's catchy, as usual.
And here's a random Trojan commercial that I saw today. It made me chuckle.

I Like to Rhyme. I Like My Beats Funky. I'm Spunky. I Like My Oatmeal Lumpy.
Hmm, where to start? The 4th of July was pretty fun. I got to go home. This last weekend was the first time I had been home in about 6 months. It was nice seeing family again. I also got to hang out with my long-time friend Simone for the first time in about a year or so. She just recently finished basic training for the Air Force. It's always nice to see friends that are doing positive things in life.
Thinking about the friends I consider 'keepers', I have to say that I've got some pretty good friends in my life. There are those that make life tough at times, but there are the ones that I love talking to, seeing, hearing from, etc. I won't name names, I'm sure you all know who you are. If you don't, that's my fault and I'll be sure to let you know that I value our friendship :]
On another note, I'm getting worn down when it comes to babysitting, but kids wear you down fast--they're all go-go-go. My ideal summer would have consisted of me not working and, instead, just writing. However, that's not the case and since it isn't, I have to say I'm glad that I'm babysitting Tanner. He's such a great kid--he's definitely grown on me. Last week we went to the skate park in Newberg and I filmed Tanner and two of his friends (who are also really fun to hang with) skating and biking and made a video. I tried to post it on here, but it wouldn't let me (soon, though).
I bought DVDs for the first time in a long time and boy did it feel good. Last week I bought Little Miss Sunshine and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. I heard that the latter was pitched to the production company as follows, "Six words: Will Ferrell as a NASCAR driver." (fun fact!--I'm full of them) Anyway, get this, I got them from the pawnshop in Mac and they were only 4 DOLLARS! I'm lovin' it :]
Order of Business #5: I've been reading a lot of blogs lately and I noticed that a common trend amongst those who had been blogging for a while was to have an ongoing post that consisted of 100 random facts about the person. So, since it looked like fun, I decided to do it, too. I have 4 or 5 written down already, I'll probably post that tomorrow. Be prepared to learn some fun stuff about me :]
Oh, I decorated my room. I think it looks good. Maybe I'll give a small tour in my first video blog. Not sure when I'll have that posted, but soon--this week hopefully.
Well, all you dudes and divas out there in Blogland, this is Jamika C. signing off. Remember to brush daily, keep your shoes tied and your nose out of the sky.
Title Song: I'll give you a special treat if you can tell me the name of the title song WITHOUT LOOKING IT UP! Since I have no way of knowing that you already know it, I'm just going to assume that you'll be honest.

I Said, 'Yep, What a Concept, I Could Use a Little Fuel Myself...'
And we could all use a little change.
Heeeellllooo People!
It's been a while since I last wrote or commented on any of your posts. However, I have read everything, I've just been doing it throughout the day at work, so I don't have much time to comment. But, yeah, I've definitely been keeping up with you all :)
I'm allowing myself to stay up til midnight. So, that is two extra hours of awake-ness that I can use for posting on here, commenting on your post and writing! I haven't written anything creative (well, besides the comics that I posted) since I started working this summer--and let me tell you, it's devastating. I miss it so much.
Anyhoo, I'm heading out to a Tanner's, one of the kids I babysit, birthday party. He's 10 today. He was really excited all day. I remember when birthdays excited me. Now, it's just another day.
I plan to come back and do a real update on life since the last time I posted a life update--which was sometime before the Michael Jackson post. Well, friends, I will talk to you all soon.
Also, I'm thinking I'm going to start video blogging. So, instead of just reading my words--you can sit back, close your eyes and drift away to the sound of my voice...Aren't you excited? Haha.
